DualTime Transition Tags — Double-Sided Visual Countdown Cues

Moving between tasks or environments can be overwhelming. Switching from home to school, or wrapping up a favorite activity, often triggers anxiety and cognitive fatigue for neurodivergent individuals.

Dual Time Transition Tags are tactile, double-sided visual tools designed to make the concept of time predictable and calm. By pairing a low-stimulation color palette with an intuitive rainbow countdown decal, these 3D-printed tags create a consistent, reliable bridge between home life and the classroom.

How It Works: The "Macro to Micro" Flip System

Each set contains three physical, dual-colored tags covering six critical time increments: 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes.

  • The Pastel Yellow "Buffer" Side (30, 15, and 10 mins), Gives early warnings low-arousal. The soft yellow base signals a safe, flexible window without triggering immediate sensory pressure.
  • The Green/Blue "Action" Side (5, 2, and 1 mins), Flipping the tag over provides a physical, tactile shift. The grounding, cool-toned background highlights the final countdown steps clearly, prompting active preparation for the next activity.

How to Use the DualTime Transition System

Step 1: Set the Horizon (The Yellow Buffer Phase)

  • Start with all three tags facing up on their Pastel Yellow side (showing 30, 15, and 10 minutes).
  • This soft color signals a safe, flexible window.
  • It prepares the mind for the upcoming change without causing immediate sensory pressure.

Step 2: The Action Shift (The Green/Blue Phase)

  • As time moves forward, physically flip the tag over to reveal its Green/Blue side.
  • Flipping the 30-minute tag transforms it into the 5-minute marker.
  • Flipping the 15-minute tag transforms it into the 2-minute marker.
  • Flipping the 10-minute tag transforms it into the 1-minute marker.

Step 3: Tactile Processing

  • Involve the individual by letting them physically flip the tags themselves.
  • This physical action bridges the gap between abstract time and physical space.
  • The transition into the grounding, cool colors signals that it is time to actively pack up, tidy, or move on to the next activity.
